    Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall - Guided tour of the special exhibition “Connections Across Oceans: Early Chinese Mutual Aid Organisations”. It describes how mutual aid organisations were formed in the 19thC in SIngapore and the US, and why they were considered important pillars of the Chinese migrant community. Yet "secret societies" also gained notoriety and were regulated in Singapore.

While we trace Dr. Sun Yat Sen's revolutionary activities in Southeast Asia and support and contributions of the Singapore Chinese to the 1911 Revolution in Galleries 1 to 3, there is also discussion of the development of the Singapore Chinese population from pioneers in the economy, education, publishing and community in Gallery 4.
