Emily is a three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and James K. Batten Professor of English at Davidson College, where she teaches about the spread of misinformation and disinformation, especially in relation to U.S. elections, democracy, and foreign policy.

Her field work has included presidential campaigns, domestic and overseas terrorist attacks, mass shootings, natural disasters, journalism’s role in democracy, and the impact of artificial intelligence on journalism.

Emily has over twenty years of experience working at print and television news outlets including The Taipei Times, China Central Television, Al Jazeera America, NBC News & MSNBC, VICE News, and ABC News. She has also worked as a breaking news control room producer, script writer and editor, booking producer, and on-air reporter.

Emily grew up on a farm in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, and has lived in Taiwan, Denmark, the Netherlands, the U.K., Cleveland, Washington D.C., and New York City.

Elvin is the Dean, College of Integrative Studies, Professor of Political Science, and the Director of the Wee Kim Wee Centre at Singapore Management University. He specializes in presidential and executive politics, political communication, and constitutional law. He is the author of The Lovers Quarrel: The Two Foundings and American Political Development (Oxford University Press, 2014) and The Anti-Intellectual Presidency: The Decline of Rhetoric from George Washington to George W. Bush (Oxford University Press, 2008) and research articles that reflect his interdisciplinary research interests.

He is a winner of the Founders Award of the Presidency and Executive Politics section of the American Political Science Association and has won numerous teaching awards. He is a member of the Social Science Research Council Expert Panel, and is a Director of the Board of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Prior to joining SMU, he held positions at the National University of Singapore, where he served as Head of the Department of Political Science, and at Wesleyan University in the United States.

Steven Okun, Founder and CEO of APAC Advisors, is a leader on corporate public affairs, ESG, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. His clients include private equity firms, the sustainable business network BSR and he serves as a Senior Advisor for the Global Private Capital Association.

He spent the first twelve years of his career in Washington, DC, including serving for five years in the Administration of President Bill Clinton. He is a veteran of numerous US presidential campaigns and staffed three Democratic National Conventions.

Living in Singapore since 2003, he created and led public affairs in Asia-Pacific for UPS and KKR. He served five terms as Chair of the AmChams of Asia Pacific and three terms as Chair of AmCham Singapore. An in-demand speaker for businesses and conferences, Steve frequently appears as an expert analyst on CNBC and Channel NewsAsia and other global media, provides the weekly International News Review for MONEY FM (Singapore) and contributes commentary to Nikkei Asia, The Straits Times, The Business Times and Asia Times. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Zakir is Associate Editor at The Straits Times, SPH Media and a vice-president of the Singapore Press Club.

He joined The Straits Times in 2005 and as a correspondent, reported extensively on political, social and economic developments in Singapore and South-east Asia. He was ST’s Indonesia bureau chief based in Jakarta, and has also had stints as political editor, foreign editor, news editor and Singapore editor. He is also a trustee of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
